Project!

A recent trip to Goodwill led to the purchase of this octagonal heavy wood table. It looked very 70's or 80's but was in pretty good condition except for some cracking in the surface finish on the top (probably from moisture.) It measures 19 1/2" diam. by 24 1/2" tall. The price tag was $8.99, so I couldn't pass it up. I had a feeling that if painted white, it would resemble an architectural column....So I painted it "Lamb's Wool white and did a little sanding to "age" it a bit. The result?

I really like the way it turned out.  Still not sure if I should antique the finish a little, but I like the way it looks.

I think it makes a great plant stand, but I also think it would make a pretty great end table next to my white painted daybed.  I'll have to try it here and there to decide where it will stay.  Having a project is always interesting and challenging...and wonderful when it turns out to be a "treasure."

Not a lot of hooking has been accomplished this week, so my Posy Pony is waiting patiently for attention, and my Autumn rug is still in the planning stages....sigh.  I really wish I could just sit and hook for about a week without interruption!  That would be so fantastic.

Our city-wide Fall garage sale is coming up in about 3 weeks, and I should be going through "stuff" to get ready for the sale.  I would love to get rid of things, but I don't like getting it all together for pricing....Ugh!!  And then where do you put it all until the sale day??

Have a great week!
Linda

  6. What a great find! I vote for adding the antiquing medium or glaze cuz that will really highlight all the details on this piece. Sorry to hear you haven't been able to do much hooking - maybe when the weather cools off a bit?
