The above 5" x 7" mat was one of a series of small designs I created about 6 years ago. These were created specifically for those who would like to try rug hooking without having to buy a large expensive kit. I think when some people start rug hooking, they get bogged down with large projects that leave them discouraged and regretting the expense. These small kits were intended to make trying rug hooking more appealing to beginners. I found that even those who have been hooking for years like the reward of a finished item in just a few days. These small mats can be combined with other items in displays and have been lots of fun to make. The small "Willow House" mat above is one of my favorites. It is simple but cute!
This sunflower mat is 6" x 8" and involved the use of "proddy" to make the sunflower petals. This was fun to hook and compliments any decor. Primitive designs are so appealing!!
I hope you have a great weekend and we'll talk soon.

Tonja, Thank you very much for praying for my sister. We actually have had good news the past two days. She got to come home from the hospital yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) and is resting at home and doing 100% better than just a few days ago. I hope you do try rug hooking in the future! It is very rewarding.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am glad your sister got better..PTL!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to offer any rug hooking kits on your shop blog? I just love your Willow House and Sunflower mats.
Blessings!
Thank you, Lori, for your kind words. I had intended to offer patterns on my selling blog, but have just not gotten around to putting them on yet. I will make a point to make some available very soon! Thanks, again!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes!
Thanks Linda, I will be watching for them. No rush though, I can wait. I will catch up with some stitching in the meantime. Smiles
