Old Ceiling Tins...A Favorite Antique

I LOVE old chippy painted tin ceiling tiles.  One of my favorite local antique/crafts shops has a beautiful ceiling of these old tiles....great ambiance for an antique shop!

The above tile has been hanging in my home for years.  Right now it hangs above the old primitive cupboard displaying old baskets and my white pottery bowl collection.  I love the look.

Here is another of my ceiling tins.  This one hangs over the bed.  The one precaution - these tiles may have peeling lead paint, so I would not hang them where children or pets may come into contact with them.  I sprayed mine with a clear sealant to keep the paint from flaking off onto the floor.  I still check them regularly for loose paint chips to be safe.   Wash your hands after handling them.

Wonderful antique decorating tools which are fairly plentiful in antique shops.  Lots of colors....lots of sizes and designs.   Love them.

Have a great Sunday!
Hugs,
Linda

  2. They are so pretty as art. We went to a salvage place and bought several panels of them scraped them down with a wire brush and repainted them white and use them as the back splash for our kitchen.

Funny. Something I've never noticed in antique shops. I'll have to be on the lookout.

I don't believe I've seen the old ones in the shops I've been in...maybe one day I'll run across one.
