Strange Visitor!

We noticed a stranger at the hummingbird feeder this afternoon!  She was lying in wait for flies and insects who stopped by for a little refreshment.  She did manage to snag a couple of flies while we watched.

One of the flies landed on her back and tormented her a little.  She tried to get rid of the fly with her back leg, but to no avail.

The hummingbirds, meanwhile, kept coming back to the feeder to drink, but the praying mantis reached out for them and they decided to keep their distance.  One brave male hummer did sneak a few slurps from the back side of the feeder!

Still haven't accomplished much hooking lately, but I have drawn up two new projects that I hope to finish this week.

Have a great week!   Linda

  3. Linda - I've only ever seen one in real life - Carrie was in Kindergarten and she's now a Senior. I heard her out in front of the house screaming like I'd never heard before, of course I rush out to find out what is happening to the child. Guess what was sitting on a rock? She remembers and we still laugh about it today. Have a great week. ~Ann
