Red Saltbox Hook-In Pix

Yesterday was the long awaited (by me anyway!) of the Red Saltbox Hook-In in Terre Haute. My Friend Julie and I left VERY early in the morning and drove the little over three hours to get there (a little late). It was a little rainy, but we had a great time. There were about 50 ladies attending, and we met some very talented hookers and enjoyed seeing all the beautiful rugs, wool and other hooked items.
Wendy Miller brought lots of her wonderful hand dyed wools, and had a great sale on yards of factory made wools
This horse was one of Wendy's rugs that I just loved. It is pretty large with beautiful primitive wools.
This rug was so dramatic with its bright colors and dark background. Wendy is a very talented rug hooker. Her loops are so even!
This very tall sampler rug was a favorite of many of the ladies.

We had lunch at the Bed and Breakfast (wonderful) and each person was given a great gift bag filled with an original Red Saltbox hooked pattern called "Cup of Spring," two fat quarters of beautiful wool, a hooked bluebird pin. And a little bag of chocolate!!! She had coffee, tea, and lots of baked goods to enjoy all day.

I will post more pictures of the great rugs on display in the next couple of days. I worked on my cat rug, by the way, and will post some pix of the progress soon.

I have been unable to stay awake today. We had a garage sale this week, and I was up very late 3 nights in a row! I think I will be going to bed early tonight...yawn.

  1. Oh, Linda,
I am so envious that you got to go to the Red Saltbox hook-in ;-) I've seen Wendy's hooking at the Sauder Village rug show and I just don't know how her loops can be so perfect! I hope you will post more pictures soon and be sure to include your rug!
    Pug hugs :)

P.S. Did you know that Wendy has a pug?

  2. Thanks, Lauren! I will be posting more pictures, and I did know that Wendy has a pug. You told me in one of your comments in the past! (I wouldn't have known otherwise!) Your pictures from your recent hook-in were wonderful.

  3. Wow Linda - Sounds like it was a great hook-in. I drove 10 hours to attend the one in Denver last weekend - crazy, huh? Love all the pictures - Wendy's designs are all so great - I have a special weakness for the alphabet sampler - would love to do one some day.

  4. Linda, looks like a fabulous hook-in. The pictures of the rugs are awesome. I had seen the very tall sampler rug in a shop in Warsaw MO. It is a pattern I would like to do, but it is soooo big. Looks like you had a great time.

  7. Thanks for sharing with us, if you were around Wendy I know you had a good time. I know what you mean about even loops, how talented she is and her overdyed wool, well it speaks to me everytime I see it!
